Bikram Yoga Ujpest Budapest

Undoubtedly, Edit Varkonyi is a power woman. In January 2013 she opened the forth Bikram yoga studio in Budapest. It’s located in the north, in the Pest-side and easily and quickly reachable by the subway. The Danube river and busy Metro stations are nearby, which one doesn’t notice. The contrary is the case: Schools, small businesses, small houses and some higher ones dominate the quiet surroundings. The owner invested a lot in the new studio. The furniture and the coulours have been carefully chosen and she left enough space in the rooms. The hot room looks quite spacious. The heating system is certainly one of the most modern in the city.

There is soft music before the lesson starts. Then Edit teaches in a lively, motivating manner. Even though I don’t understand one word, I can follow because how she intonates, how she moves tells me what’s going on. And of course because I can see the 16 other students. Edit is also a certified Barkan teacher. Which is an other type of hot Yoga with all but four postures like Bikram taught them. Edit is open for this sort of yoga and sure about the benefits. However she doesn’t have the courage yet to offer Barkan lessons in her Bikram yoga studio. I truly hope she will do so soon, so I have a reason to come back to her place once more – and have a different class in her strikingly beautiful studio.
