Bikram Yoga Leicester

In Leicester, a one hour-trip by train to the north from London, the streets are crowded. „Reinterment – Richard III“ is the cause, and so there are celebrations held for one week in and around the cathedral. From now on the mortal remains of the king, famous and ill reputed by Shakespeare’s play, who died 500 years ago in the battle of Bosworth will rest in the cathedral.

Even though all the people seem to attend the festivities, more than a dozen Yogis take part in a Express Hot-Yoga class in the Bikram Yoga studio.  This is a 60- instead of a 90-minute-lesson. I learnt about this special lessons in Basel and in London Fulham. This class, taught by Harbinder, is even more different. Some postures are done only once, others twice as usual, yet others as three in a row, at first once and then all of them for another time. One resting pose is skipped. All the differences do make sense to me – at the end, one feels happy. The teacher is smashing, she loves the teaching in this studio.

No wonder: There is a great atmosphere in the studio which opened ten years ago. It is located between the historical center and the newer part of the town. Libby Nockles, the owner, tells about a good, strong community. She is glad to see me and appreciates my long trip to her studio. She shows me the premises that include three floors. They are simple. Older, but functional and absolutely clean and in perfect order. The noisy heating system does not disturb anyone. The highlight: a lounge where the exhausted Yogis can refresh with tea and fruits. It’s one of the studios that I will remember in a very positiv way.
