Bikram Yoga Warwickshire

„They really care for you“, sagt sie.

About the last studio I wanted to visit during my Scotland/England trip I can’t write anything. I couldn’t get in. We were 4 yogis, waiting in front of the closed door for half an hour in the rain and the storm. We were wet and freezing. Nothing we would have liked better then go into a heated room.

So Lesley invited me into a nice little coffee shop. She told me about Nicki, the teacher who should have taught the class today and usually is very reliable. She lives on a boat on the river Avon. It seems she was not able to get to the studio on behalve of the floods. Lesley assures me that the studio is a friendly and small one with three instructors teaching on a high standard, sticking to the dialogue and yet gently individualising and giving help. 17 lessons are given in a week. Lesley herself learnt about yoga during her years in Africa, later she stayed in a Ashram in India, now she is working in the hospital of Warwick. She feels glad that this studio opened 18 months ago. So she can practise twice a week. „They really care for you“, she says. She is absolutely sure about the beneftis she gained. On the way back to London with several trains canceled or delayed, I was able to see all the flooded fields and rivers overflowing their banks. An exceptional incident, even in rainy England, I was told.

Bikram Yoga Norwich

When I visited the Bikram yoga studio in Manchester last year, I was told there were two other new studios: one in Norwich, the other in Warwick. Jennifer, who opened the studio in Norwich nearly two years ago is changing the schedule from time to time. So I couldn’t attend a Bikram yoga class the way I had planned from the beginning. However I had the possiblity to attend Vanessa`s Hatha yoga class. She taught in the hot room where Hotyoga had been practised some hours before, so one could feel a comfortable warmth. The room can take up to 40 yogis; Jennifer says that usually 15 to 20 would come. As the Bikram sequence is based on Hatha yoga, I felt somehow familiar with this style of yoga. Even without the heat the lesson was challenging and beneficial at the same time.

With the help and support of her mother, Jennifer aims to create a Bikram Yoga community that gives students a chance to come together and learn, to support each other, to give back to the community and of course, to sweat. The studio is located in the middle of the old buildings and churches and many other sights. She also offers other styles of yoga besides Bikram and Hatha yoga. Her true love however is the Bikram style. After a car accident she was suffering from continuous back spasms, depression and migraine headaches. Jennifer felt it was time to try something different. And sure enough: In 2008 she walked out of her first class smiling and knowing she had found what she needed.

Bikram Yoga Southside Glasgow

Die Besitzerin Linda sagt: „Our mission is to create and support a healthy vibrant yoga community by providing a clean, safe, friendly, professional environment with inspirational teaching and empowered leadership.“

When I planned my Glasgow trip last year, this studio hadn’t opened yet. Time for me to catch up!  All you might expect from a new modern studio is available here. As the name suggests, it is located to the South of the river Clyde. In a quarter full of small shops, pubs and gyms, the studio sticks out because it is really beautiful. It’s not huge, but the hotroom with 4 rows of mats is surprisingly spacy. The floor cover is hypoallergenic and offers protection against bacteria, mould and odour.
Usually the mirrors cover the front and one side wall – here the front and the back wall are covered with mirrors. Which offers amazing optical effects. An advanced heat exchange and ventilation system is installed to keep the room fully oxygenated throughout classes. Alas, the system is quite noisy. Beside the changing rooms there is an inviting corner where you can relax and have some tea after the workout.

Linda opened the studio last June. Her friend Fraz took part in the Teacher Training last autumn. Now he is teaching our Monday evening class. We are 30 yogis, including 6 men. Fraz makes us do the postures in a good humored, lively way, in the same way he gives helpful gestures. When he hears I am to go to Norwich in the South-West of England the following day he asks me to say his friends there hello. Once more: the Bikramyoga world is a small.
