Auf das letzte der neun Studios in und um Madrid freute ich mich besonders. Es handelt sich dabei um Divino Pastor an der gleichnamigen Calle nördlich der Gran Via in einem sehr belebten Viertel. Es ist das erste Bikram Yoga Studio Spaniens, von denen die Besitzerin Lucia Kelley inzwischen fünf eröffnet hat – zwei davon in Barcelona.

Es ist Barrio-orientiert und demnach klein und gemütlich. Es gibt keine Einzelduschen, keine abschliessbaren Kästen, sperrige Türen, eine in die Jahre gekommene Backsteinwand. Der heisse Raum ist ein Rechteck mit einem angefügten halben Zimmer; die Teacherin unterrichtet diese Sonntagabend-Stunde in Englisch. Sie heisst Giulia und hat vor kurzem das Teacher Training zusammen mit Vivek Nema aus Zürich absolviert. So klein ist die Yoga-Welt. Sebastian Pila, der am Donnerstagabend eine Klasse in La Castellana unterrichtet hatte, praktiziert nun hier zusammen mit den anderen. Bevor die Stunde beginnt, übt er ein paar Advanced Posen, denn er wird in London an den Weltmeisterschaften als Dritter der spanischen Meisterschaften antreten. Er ist zugleich Manager der beiden Studios La Castellana und Divino Pastor. Obwohl die Heiz- und Lüftungsanlage altmodisch anmutet, stimmt die Temperatur perfekt; die Energie der Klasse tut ein Übriges, damit ich einen tollen Abschluss in Madrid erleben darf.

I really looked forward to visit the last studio in Madrid. It’s called Divino Pastor, after the lane it is situated in, north of the Gran Via, in a very lively part of the capital. It was the first studio to open in Spain. Its owner, Lucia Kelley has opened up four more – two of them in Barcelona. It focuses on the Barrio, the immediate surroundings.

There are no private showers and no lockable wardrobes but clumsy doors and brick walls that depict wear and tear of the years. The hot room is rectangular with an added half room. The teacher instructs this Sunday evening class in English.

Sebastian Pila who gave the Thursday evening class in La Castellana makes now a workout with the others. Before the beginning of the class, he practices a few of the advanced postures because, becoming third at the Spanish championships, he is soon to participate at the world championships in London. He is the manager of the La Castellana und Divino Pastor studios.

Although the heating installation is quite old fashioned, the temperature is perfect. And the energy within the class adds to the fact that I enjoy a fantastic end of my Madrid trip.
