Einführung Bikram-Yoga


Bikram Choudhury, 1946 in Kalkutta geboren, ist der Gründer der nach ihm benannten Yogaart. Es ist eine markengeschützte Serie von 26 Hatha-Yoga-Übungen und zwei Atemübungen, die in einem rund 40 Grad Celsius heissen Raum praktiziert werden. Jede Übung wird zweimal durchgeführt. Dank der Hitze ist man beim zweiten Durchgang schon deutlich beweglicher. Eine sichere Muskel- und Sehnenarbeit werden ermöglicht, und durch das Schwitzen wird der Körper entgiftet. Diese Yoga-Art ist ein bewährtes Herz-Kreislauf-Training  und schont erst noch die Gelenke. Jede einzelne Position bereitet den Körper optimal auf die nächste Übung vor und macht die Serie zu einem ganzheitlichen System.

Die Bikram-Yoga-Serie erfordert keine Vorkenntnisse: Jeder kann mit Bikram-Yoga beginnen. Bikram pflegt zu sagen: „You’re never too old, never too bad, never too late and never too sick to start from the scratch once again.“

Regelmässiges Training reguliert den Cholesterinspiegel im Blut, bringt Sauerstoff und Nahrung in Organe und Körperteile. Es baut Schadstoffe ab, spült das Lymphsystem, stärkt das Immunsystem und reguliert das Drüsensystem. Es vergrössert die Lungenkapazität, stärkt das Herz und verbessert vor allem die Flexibilität und Gesundheit der Wirbelsäule.

Hot yoga is a demanding series of 26 postures (asanas) and two breathing exercices (pranayamas), which suitable for all ages and levels of ability, created by Bikram Choudhury in the 60’s. Bikram did grow the yoga in the western world. His first school in Beverlly hills was full of movies stars, singers, and athletes. Those famous people made his yoga famous around the world.

This wonderful sequence of poses is worked in a heated room around 40 degrees celsius and around 40% of humidity. Each posture stretches and strenghens specific muscles, ligaments and joints in preparation for the next. They are designed to stimulates organs, glands, and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100 percent of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order.

This 90 minutes program is widely reputed to deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body in order to prevent illness, injury, and limit the effects of aging. In addition, the series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control, which lead to increased mental clarity and reduced stress.

Regular practice of hot yoga method also improves body posture and spine alignement. It relieves back pains and headaches, reduces symptoms of chronic diseases such as – arthritis, diabetes, thiroide-improves body image, flexibility, balance and strength, all the while providing an overall feeling of wellness and peace.
