Infinity Hot Yoga Glasgow

There is much more to Hot Yoga than Bikram.“

That’s for sure, there are more beautiful studios, more modern and larger ones then the small, intimate Infinity Hot Yoga under a former railway viaduct. Colette Ward (see picture) opened it three and a half years ago. Originally she did the Teacher Training with Bikram many years ago and she offers every week one class („from your bones to your skin – the original Bikram sequence). Nevertheless, she learnt about different styles of yoga and emerged further, for example to Absolut Hot Yoga. Now she says: „There is much more to Hot Yoga than Bikram.“

All at once one feels at ease at this place with it’s individual and cosy style. The floor in the hot room is, a rarity, made out of wood. Especially the welcome is quite outgoing.

This Friday morning, Jamie, a cheerful young man, is teaching. He did his Teacher Training in absolut Yoga in Thailand. When he says hello to the 10 Yogis, all of them reply with a warm greeting. He is wearing colourful shorts and does a great part of the workout himself, even though he is teaching: this is unusual and must be exhausting. It’s a so called Moksha class – with many postures from the original Bikram yoga. But there are more exercices and even more strenous ones. After a while I am getting used to his Scottish English and I start feeling more and more comfortable in these surroundings.
