Bikram Yoga Warschau

Marta Hodgon opened the studio in Warschau in October 2013: It is the first and only one in Polen so far. I found it by chance when I opened the internet page of another studio with nearly the same name. Marta told me, that studio never opened. Hers is located in the surroundings of the city, between the jewish cemetery and the Wisla. It is easy to reach by tram from the railway station, even walking there takes not longer than half an hour.

It’s on the third floor of a semicircle building, thus the hot room has the same structure, like a piece of pie without the angular part. The studio is rather small but really cosy. There are all the rooms you need to perform a workout in the heat. We are 24 Yogis, a fifth of them are men on this Sunday morning. The hot room is nearly crowded. The heat is like advertised not only 40 but 41 degrees. What I am to expect?!

Even though I was looking forward to being taught in Polish by the owner, I liked to experience the guest teacher, Feroze’s brother Sameer Khan. He has been living in Brussels for 11 years. He does not only correct the beginners but also the advanced students. He demonstrates with the latter how the postures could be done in one or two years time. The lesson is far more than an usual class – much more like a workshop. He promises to offer one in Marta’s studio soon. I am happy to have got a feeling how it would be….
