Hot Yoga Ibiza

There is a beautiful studio in Eivissa, the capital of Ibiza island. It’s located near a radial road close to the roundabout. The rounded building seems to copy the form of the roundabout. You can enter the studio after having climbed an external staircase on the first floor. Here, you are expected for a yoga class by a huge hot room, a bright reception area, simple changing- and showerrooms. Even though the temperatur has to be hotter than the heat outside, one feels the climate quite adequate for the training – thanks to the air condition. The floor is the same as Karin from Zurich has one in her new studio: it’s hygienic, smelling good and strengthening the muscles.

Sebastian is the owner. He is distancing himself from Bikram Choudhury as a person. Yet, because he did the teacher training by Bikram and because he is offering the original Bikram yoga sequence – besides various other styles of yoga – his studio undoubtedly belongs into my blog.

Sebastian isn’t teaching this lesson himself. He tells me that teacher Sonia from Zurich and John from Miami (who is teaching now and again in Zurich) were practising in Eivissa two weeks ago. Sebastian is also practising and he is one of the 4 men and 7 women who are taught by an employee of the studio. She is teaching one set in English and the next in Spanish, which is really agreeable for me. Sometimes I can catch a glimpse how Sebastian is doing a perfect posture: the triangle pose for example or a beautifully streched standing bow.
